April Plantsman’s Day
The first Plantsman’s Day of the year took place yesterday, run by Marina Christopher from Phoenix Perennial Plants. It was a beautifully sunny Spring day sandwiched between two days of rain, which was a relief as about 30 people came to look around the gardens at Bury Court and enjoy lunch in the Barn tea room.
The theme for April’s late morning talk was “Poppies – delicate, colourful additions to the summer garden”. The afternoon offered a guided tour of the walled garden which was designed in 1997 by Piet Oudolf and was the first naturalistic garden designed by him in Britain.
Whilst the poppies aren’t yet in flower, you can visit them later in the year if you come along to another of the Plantsman’s Days. Please see the Events page for dates. The photos below were our poppies in past seasons.
