Art Inspired by Gardens Exhibitor Liz Vonberg

Liz Vonberg designs and paints on silk; working from life whenever possible, her creations are detailed and vibrant.  Taking inspiration from the natural world, she combines and contrasts organic forms and geometric shapes.

The garden has provided her with inspiration throughout the year, from fresh green shoots to autumnal seed pods.  Liz likes to pick and draw from life so all the caterpillar holes and misshapen petals are evident.  She draws directly onto silk with a clear solution called gutta
so there is no room for mistakes!  The colour is added in the form of steam fixed French dyes.

August is providing a wonderful collection of blues and purples this year in her windswept garden by the sea, often battered by wind and horizontal rain.  The sunshine has brought some delicate blooms, including passion flowers, scabious, lavender and sea holly which harmonize on the waistcoat she is currently working on.
