Art Inspired by Gardens Exhibitor Richard Hayward

Sculptor Richard Hayward carves directly into wood and stone, producing pieces that are suitable for indoor display as well as stone sculptures to be placed in a garden setting.

His sculptures are inspired by his observations of the inhabitants of the garden and their activities. He carves mainly English woods and English and French limestone, aiming to create a fusion between an imaginative idea and the inherent characteristics of the organic materials.

The photograph shows a new statue by Richard Hayward which is carved in Caen stone, a creamy limestone from France. The statue is a small piece 1’4″ x 1’4″ x 5″, although the photos make it appear much larger.
